Gretta has been Chief Executive of New Zealand Steel & Pacific Islands at BlueScope Steel Limited since June 25, 2018.

Gretta was General Manager of New Zealand Aluminium Smelter Limited at Pacific Aluminium Pty Limited since August 2013. Prior to this role, she served as General Manager Business Improvement and Technology in Pacific Aluminium’s Brisbane office.

Gretta has worked in the aluminium industry for 22 years, including 17 years with Rio Tinto and five years with Alcoa. She has had broad exposure to a variety of aluminium smelting operations across the world, including Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, Brazil, Canada, France and the USA. Before transferring to New Zealand, she was General Manager of Business Improvement & Technology for Pacific Aluminium’s four aluminium smelters across Australia and New Zealand. She has a long association with NZAS and Southland prior to re-joining Pacific Aluminium in 2010. She worked at NZAS from 1993 to 1998 and was a regular visitor to the site from 1998 to 2005.

Gretta has been active in the Southland Chamber of Commerce, which provided a good connection with the local business community and she served on the governance committee for the Southland Regional Development Strategy which was launched in 2016.
