Guy Waipara (Rongowhakaata) serves as General Manager Generation and Natural Resources for Meridian Energy. He is responsible for the companys New Zealand and Australian generation asset portfolio, including seven hydro power stations and five wind farms that deliver about 30 percent of New Zealands electricity generation, and two wind farms in Australia, and for the companys New Zealand wholesale trading and risk positions.
Guys role also involves managing renewable projects and renewable generation options. Guy was formerly General Manager, External Relations and has previously held roles at Meridian in offshore business development and setting company strategy. He has more than 25 years experience in the electricity sector and previously worked at Transpower in roles responsible for transmission planning and network development.
On top of his roles with Meridian Energy and the NZBPT, Guy Waipara also serves as the Board Chair for KidsCan.
